Head of Biostatistics

My client is a niche Contract Research Organisation (CRO) that, due to expansion, are searching for a new Head of Biostatistics. This can be worked from home or in their office, north of Cambridge.  You will be in direct management for a cross-functional team of Statisticians and Programmers of approx. 20 in the UK.

This organisation has expanded by 150% in the last 2 years and are continuing to grow at this pace. They pride themselves in providing excellent training and the ability to involve their staff in varied and exciting projects. You will have the opportunity to work in-depth on few studies, as opposed to “touching the surface” on lots of studies.

As a Head of Biostatistics, you may be responsible for the following:

  • Defining and delivering the vision and goals for the Biostatistics department aligned with the strategic objectives of the company.
  • Providing motivational and decisive leadership to the Statistics and Programming teams with a structured management approach.
  • Building and developing the Biostatistics capability supporting new and expanded business scope and opportunities.
  • Driving the positive recruitment, retention, training and development of the Biostatistics department
  • Providing consulting expertise to clients and colleagues regarding Biostatistical aspects of clinical trials.
  • Developing Biostatistics working standards through SOPs, training and influence.

To be considered for the Head of Biostatistics position you must meet the following criteria:

  • Significant experience in a Biostatistics leadership role directing Statistician and Statistical programming disciplines, preferably with a CRO industry background.
  • Well- developed knowledge of technical and regulatory requirements and industry advancements related to statistical work within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong operational expertise to provide appropriate direction and oversight of processes and disciplines.
  • Critical intuitive thinker with a big picture perspective.
  • Advanced communication skills with a strong team focus, focussed on positive engagement and collaboration.
  • Experience and a passion for line management with excellent personal and organisational skills.
